Donnell Russell affectionately known as D'Russ born on November 23, 1982 in New Orleans, Louisiana. D'Russ matriculated and graduated from the Orleans Parish School System. He later went to college and pursued a degree in music education. D'Russ knew at an early age the God had something special for him to do; that God had placed a special anointing on his life.
Being reared in a Baptist Church, where he reveled in being apart of the mass choir, D'Russ flourished in all his endeavors because he had the heart of Christ; a love for the people. He is a servant of the people. We are "to offer our (your) bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God." Romans 12:1
D'Russ has sung and worked with many recording groups, choirs and solo artist throughout Louisiana.
In October 2005, following the wake of the devastating Hurricane Katrina that shattered the Gulf Coast, D'Russ moved to Memphis, Tennessee and continued his ministry. He began to minister in song with Stellar Award Nominated and recording Artist Darrel Petties and S.I.P. Being apart of such ministries, D'Russ increased his spirit based knowledge. God showed favor upon D'Russ, he was afforded numerous opportunities to sing with countless great recording artist.
Also while living in Memphis D'Russ had the chance to also be apart of Stellar Award Nominated Recording Choir Billy Rivers and The Angelic Voices of Faith. Being apart of this great ministry has also allowed D'Russ many opportunities to sing, travel and record with various nationally known gospel artist namely Dottie People's, Kevin Davidson, Angela Spivey, Beverly Crawford, Vanessa Bell, Kurt Carr, Shae Norman, Rance Allen, Edwin Hawkins, Walter Hawkins, Pastor Marvin Winans, Pastor Timothy Wright and also lend his voice in the recording of The Tribute to Bishop G.E Patterson.
Despite the anointing and his love to sing, D'Russ knew that was not all that God had in store for him to do. Seizing every possibility for exposure, D'Russ garned what he learned and utilized it to it's maximal potential; he eventually left the city of Memphis, Tennessee as it was appointed time to branch out and create his own niche as orchestrated by God. Acting upon the vision that was before him, D'Russ accepted his assignment and with great joy, sacrifices, struggles, growing pains, success and failures, D'Russ finally began to fulfill his mission. The Rite Note Entertainment formed March 2009 and made its debut in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 25, 2009 with an "Evening of Gospel Music" featuring some of Louisiana's Gospel Artist. With that vision in mind D'Russ, knew that God was in the plan and the event would be abundantly blessed.
In April 2010, The Rite Note Entertainment joined with Bishop Ryan Warner and The Versatile Entertainment in hosting the 2010 Dr. Bobby Jones Gospel After Party. D'Russ and The Rite Note family are continuing to press their way and set the precedence in the New Orleans based Gospel Community.
In 2012 D'Russ birth another ministry that was given to him known as D'Russ and United Praise Singers aka "U.P.S" they are a powerful anointed group that consists of 8 singers. Their mission is to reach the heart of God's people and bring back music and ministry that will compell them to come to Christ. Bringing Gospel Music back when it was at it's best! U.P.S has released their first single and music video in November 2013 "Here I Am" that song is still reaching and blessing the hearts of the listeners.
In 2015, Donnell stepped out as an independent gospel solo artist releasing his first single called "Grace." In that song Donnell asks a question, "Where would I be if it had not been for God's grace?" He's currently working on his EP, titled "Life's Anthem." He is set to release his second single, "Holy" in September of 2016.
